“Well behaved women rarely make history.”
Laurel Thatcher Ulrich
If you weren’t aware, today is International Women’s Day! We here at Zealot Branding wanted to take a moment to celebrate and appreciate women for all of the hard work and amazing things they do. We support giving women the opportunity to do whatever they love, whether it be working at a branding company, owning their own business, founding a nonprofit to help the less fortunate, or anything else they’re passionate about. We want to join millions of people today in recognizing the incredible achievements accomplished by women everywhere.
Here are some amazing women whose accomplishments and discoveries have impacted society and affected real change:
Sacagawea (1788-1812) — guided explorers Lewis and Clark on their expedition across the American West, and forged relationships with the Native Americans along the way
Ada Lovelace (1815-1852) — was a gifted mathematician and the world’s first computer programmer
Marie Curie (1867-1934) — discovered radioactivity, paving the way for modern cancer treatments
Amelia Earhart (1867-c1937) — was the first woman to fly a plane over the Atlantic, and broke many other records during her lifetime
Katharine Graham (1917-2001) — was the first female publisher of a major American newspaper (Washington Post), and was also the first female CEO of a Fortune 500 company after taking the company public
Gertrude Ederle (1906-2003) — was the first woman to swim across the English Channel, achieving a faster swim time than any male swimmer before her
Wangari Maathai (1940-2011) — was the first African woman to receive the Nobel Peace Prize, awarded due to her work with environmentalism and women’s rights.
There are just a few examples of all the amazing things women do each and every day. Don’t forget to take today to show the women in your life how special they are! From everyone here at Zealot Branding, Happy International Women’s Day! #BalanceForBetter
